ASX listed smart home company Quantify Technology Holdings (ASX: QFY) has formed a partnership with Curtin University of Technology to install its products in a living lab in Fremantle.
Quantify’s key products are a WiFi enabled smart wall switch, the Q Device and power outlet that connect to its cloud based IoT platform, Qumulus and WiFi power controllers for electrical equipment in the home.
These products will be installed in the living lab — known as the Legacy Living Lab (L3) — to enable building automation and energy consumption monitoring within the building.
Quantify says the space will be an interactive research, prototyping and test facility and will be used to enable people to collaborate and engage directly with the building, to explore performance and data while serving as a case study for a PhD fellowship with Quantify Technology.
“The building will have the ability to undergo transformations throughout its lifetime without the need for demolition, catering for further research,” Quantify said.
Quantify will also collaborate with Fleetwood Australia, a company that designs, manufactures and installs modular buildings, and with LandCorp the WA Government’s land and development agency.
The PhD project will be completed through the Curtin University Sustainability Policy (CUSP) Institute.
Quantify Technology CEO Brett Savill said the trial would showcase what Quantify’s technology could do on a large scale, while demonstrating the adaptability of the technology and its potential to transform the building industry.
CUSP director, professor Greg Morrison said there was poor understanding of the benefits that can be gained by the integration of home automation and the energy and subsequent cost savings.
Quantify made a backdoor listingon the ASX in March 2017 after raising $5m. In June of that year it scored a spot for its intelligent building technology in Cisco’s Perth Internet of Everything Innovation Centre (CIIC).
