Queensland based industrial IoT sensor manufacturer Movus has formed a technology partnership with OSIsoft, an Australian developer of software that enables users to collect and analyse data generated by power grids, production lines and other industrial systems.
The two say the partnership will enable customers to correlate the data from equipment and processes captured and curated by OSIsoft’s PI System with data from equipment collected by Movus’ FitMachine.
“This new partnership also allows MOVUS’s FitMachine solution to complement OSIsoft’s offering by bringing key equipment health data and insights to the operations technology ecosystem, without adding any complexity,” they say.
OSIsoft says its PI System serves as a data infrastructure, connecting people to industrial equipment, sensors and other devices to cut costs, increase productivity or create new services. PI System data can be used directly by engineers or streamed into other applications to accelerate data preparation and analytics. It is complemented by a data visualisation tool, PI Vision.
FitMachine comprises a sensor and associated monitoring platform that uses artificial intelligence to help organisations monitor, manage and maintain the condition of electric motors in industrial machinery.
The FitMachine sensor attaches magnetically to the motor and monitors vibration, noise and temperature. Movus says its machine learning algorithm establishes a baseline of the equipment condition and then monitors this condition 24/7, providing an alert if these parameters deviate beyond pre-configured limits.
Movus CEO Brad Parsons said the relationship would support both companies in helping their customers with digital transformation.
“OSIsoft’s origins are similar to that of Movus – we both have a credible history of developing unique technology which supports industrial operational processes by capturing, managing and visualising critical real-time data,” Parsons said.
“OSIsoft PI Vision is one of the dominant platforms in the data historian market and [we] have customers in common. Yong Thé, regional manager of Oceania for OSIsoft describe FitMachine as “a vital AI solution for any heavy asset industry.
Movus was founded in 2015 and in July announced global expansion 12 months on from securing $4.8m in Series A funding from Blackbird Ventures, Telstra Ventures and Atlassian co-founder Scott Farquhar’s private investment fund Skip Capital.
